Ministerial Visit to Oceansgate
21 Oct 2016
Today Plymouth was pleased to welcome Sajid Javid MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. Sajid Javid reached Oceansgate towards the end of a day long tour of the South West, alongside local MPs Johnny Mercer and Oliver Colville. He was welcomed to the Naval Base by Commodore Ian Shipperley, and then given a presentation of our plans for Oceansgate, followed by a tour of the site.
When asked by a local reporter what he thought of Oceansgate, he responded “I’m impressed with what I have seen. Its early stages, but it’s great to see the Council, businesses and the MoD coming together and working together”. The Minister recognised that the project supports jobs and growth, and would benefit from further public funding. After visiting Oceansgate he was taken to the railway station to hear about another of the Council’s exciting new projects.
