Inspiring young people at Oceansgate
01 Aug 2018
Last month we had the pleasure of hosting a group of Year 7 students from Devonport High School for Boys.
This tour was organised by Building Plymouth as part of their ‘Adopt a School’ campaign. They were hosted for the day by Andrew Shalgosky, Project Manager at Balfour Beatty who is in charge of bringing the infrastructure through to future Phase 2&3.
Sue Morton, IAG Co-ordinator at Devonport High School, said
“These real world links are increasingly important for students facing an overwhelming amount of choice – firstly over exam options and then post 16 or 18 alternatives, and it is also important to dispel assumptions about the construction sector generally, with the majority of roles available locally in the next ten years being professional, such as quantity surveying, civil engineering or indeed architecture.”
